The OCC

Founded by Joan Pàmies in 1986, the Catalan Chamber Orchestra (OCC) ensures excellence in its performances, brings music to all audiences, promotes young talents and innovates and disseminates new creations.

The OCC has given over 700 concerts to date and has performed at some of the prominent venues, series and music festivals in Spain. Also it has done the same in Albania, France, Italy, Poland Czech Republic, Argentina, Chile, México, Uruguay, Lebanon, Tunisia and China. 

Prestigious soloists such Nicanor Zabaleta, Montserrat Cervera, León Ara, Régis Pasquier, Evelyne Dubourg, Montserrat Torrent or Enrica Guarini have performed alongside the orchestra. The list could be expanded with relevant names in the present music scene like Ludmil Angelov, Marco Fiorini, Assumpta Mateu, Jesús Angel León, Miquel Marín, Albert Guinovart, Yuval Gotlibovich, Raquel Castro, Marta Arbonés, Joan Espina,  Melani Mestre or Júlia Farrés-Llongueras. 

Among the conductors that have taken the baton of the orchestra, of special importance are Mihail Angelov, Marçal Gols, Lucien Jean Baptiste, Yukio Kithara, Milen Nachev, Gerard Pastor, Roit Feldenkreis and Xavier Pagès-Corella. 

The OCC has recorded for radio stations and television channels in Spain, France, Argentina, Mexico and Tunisia. It has also released seven CDs of music not previously released, mainly by Catalan composers. The OCC performs regularly in the Spring, Summer and Christmas Concert Series. 

The orchestra performs under the auspices of the association of the same name, is the resident orchestra of the Maresme Music Festival and has the support of the Catalonian Government, Barcelona Town Hall, Barcelona County Council, the Ramon Llull Institut and AIE.
